Essential Functions:
- Receives and fills prescription requests.
- Answers phones and provides customer service.
- Refills prescriptions.
- Counts tablets and label bottles.
- Pours liquids into bottles and seal.
- Processes prescription requests by phone.
- Retrieves, counts, pours, weighs, measures, and sometimes mixes the medication.
- Selects container for prescription.
- Establishes and maintains patient profiles.
- Prepares MAP applications.
- Refers any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist.
- Delivers medications to nurses and physicians.
- Receives prescriptions sent electronically from doctors' offices.
- Answers other patient inquiries.
- Explains pricing to patient.
- Purges prescriptions that have not been picked up.
- Provides and assists with training of other technicians
- Communicates and demonstrates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Use of Computerized Pharmaceutical Programs.
- Use of word processing and spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel).
- Use of office equipment.
- Basic knowledge of internet skills and PC use.
- Ability to use basic arithmetic skills.
- Ability to utilize basic written skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Texas State Pharmacy Technician Registration.
- Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred ability to speak and understand both English and Spanish.
- Current CPR Certification.
