Essential Functions:

 

  • Check patients in  and out for appointments and walk ins.
  • Participates as a part of the business office team in performing general business office     duties.
  • Retrieves the cash box from the business office safe.
  • Counts the money in the cash box.
  • Picks up encounters from the nurse’s stations on a daily basis.
  • Posts all charges indicated on the service ticket.
  • Collects and posts payments.
  • Balances monies collected daily against the computer and daily ledger sheet.
  • Obtains copies of third party identification cards.
  • Post payments received through mail.
  • Assists the registration office and business office departments as needed (i.e.,     registration, front desk, pharmacy cashier, lab, dental etc.)
  • Handles patient inquires and responds to their questions and concerns.
  • Handles appointment and switchboard duties when needed.
  • Greets all patients and visitors and directs them appropriately.
  • Receives and responds to all patient telephone calls.
  • Communicates and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of the center.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with diverse client population.
  • Ability to work at  the time and location assigned.
  • Ability to function independently, attends to detail, work under pressure and     prioritize work.
  • Ability to use a ten- key calculator.
  • Ability to work with insurance billing, Medicare, and Medicaid billing.
  • Ability to work congruently with management staff and clinical operations.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people.
  • Ability to learn and perform essential job functions accurately and safely.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Medical insurance plan knowledge (Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, or commercial plans).
  • Cashiering experience preferred.
  • Training and/or experience in a medical front office preferred.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
