Essential Functions:

 

  • Follows all specimen processing steps.
  • Reviews and acts upon quality control records and proficiency testing results.
  • Documents all corrective actions     associated with quality control, quality assurance, instrumentation, and     proficiency testing.
  • Recognizes system failures, unacceptable quality control, calibrations, and inconsistent/erroneous     patient results.
  • Contacts the appropriate person when questions arise concerning testing or reporting.
  • Demonstrates proper universal precautions and hand washing techniques.
  • Maintains patient privacy.
  • Recognizes abnormal results or unusual circumstances and takes appropriate actions.  Utilizes available resources to maintain     and fix instruments or problem solve issues.
  • Organizes and performs or supports patient testing and facilitates overall function of the entire lab.
  • Assures quality results through the use and evaluation of control materials, proper instrument maintenance,     and collection and analysis of appropriate samples.
  • Works and communicates cooperatively with team members to identify and complete lab     responsibilities and meet department goals.
  • Verifies patient demographics, insurance, and diagnostic test information to insure accurate billing or documentation.
  • Retrieves patient results and  reports in a timely manner and completes required documentation.
  • Identifies current professional and technical issues and their impact on lab practices, maintains appropriate     accreditation by regulatory agencies, and maintains current knowledge and skills applicable to job assignment through continuing education or     professional organizations.
  • Follows all procedures and policies and demonstrates competency and proficiency as required.
  • Shares new information with all team members, attends team meetings, and effectively orients/mentors new     staff as requested.
  • Participates in clinic/department activities to improve patient care/lab systems.
  • Keep current and accurate Quality Assurance records and logs.
  • Performs CLIA waived and moderate complexity testing, and participates in proficiency testing.
  • Communicates and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of the Center.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of approved training program as a Laboratory Assistant or Phlebotomy Technician.
  • Three (3) years phlebotomy experience, preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
