Essential Functions:
- Performs patient intake, including vital signs, purpose of visit, in accordance with the clinic’s routine procedure.
- Assists the Provider with examinations; with translations when needed, secures written consents and makes referrals.
- Performs treatments and procedures such as; checking Glucose, pulse, eyes, Audio and Strep screenings, EKG, and Urine dipsticks.
- Performs other MA functions such as patient’s vital signs, blood and lab work, patient’s medical history, referrals and immunization information.
- Performs sterilization functions per autoclave manufacturer’s instructions and CSV protocol.
- Works together in other sections of the clinic if needed and helps assist in training of new associates as appropriate.
- Documents all procedures done, ensures that the patients understand all orders before leaving, makes call to patients if abnormal results or other information was dictated by provider.
- Works well with others when asked to help, stocks exam room with necessary supplies and makes sure dirty room is clear of urine specimen and other collections before leaving the room.
- Ensures that electronic charts are completed by documenting any procedures done, immunization information and referrals. Makes sure physical charts are returned to Medical Records at the end of shift.
- Alerts supervisor of materials needed for daily functioning Unit.
- Participates in Performance Improvement and documentation of patient visits, reschedules, cancellations and DNS for the provider.
- Critically evaluates existing methods and develops better ways of doing things.
- Maintains patient’s confidentiality according to HIPAA policies.
- Obtains necessary reports needed by Provider.
- Assists patients in making informed decisions.
- Provides accurate information to co-workers, patients and Providers in a polite manner.
- Communicates and demonstrates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- CPR certification required.
- RMA or CMA preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
- Previous experience in health care preferred.
