Behavioral Health

Centro San Vicente provides behavioral health services at its main clinic on Alameda Avenue and at its Health Care for the Homeless Clinic located inside the Opportunity Center at 1208 Myrtle Avenue in downtown El Paso.  We receive generous funding support through the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, the Health Services and Resources Administration, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Services are provided by two Licensed Professional Counselors at our main clinic.  We also employ a Psychiatrist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor who provide diagnosis, consulting, and psychotherapy at the Homeless Clinic and at area shelters.

Services include direct diagnosis, treatment, referral, and follow up to patients of all ages, as well as families.  Our mental health providers consult regularly with the patient's physician to coordinate care.  The approach selected is the one that best matches the needs of the individual client.

The immediate family of patients is actively involved in treatment planning and therapy; this is always the case when the patient is a child.  Our health education department routinely provides training and education to patients and their families about mental health disorders and treatments, in order to empower patients and to address stigmatizing beliefs.  Our collaborative approach to treatment, backed up by a strong health education department, empowers patients, parents, and their families by educating them about what questions to ask of a physician or psychotherapist.
