Social Services
Services provided are:
- Individualized Prenatal education- Educational program for all parents to be, addressing from caring during pregnancy to include diet, exercise, rest, concerns, risks, and birth. Centro San Vicente folllows the Centering Pregnancy model for prenatal education. The model provides prenatal care for women in a group setting, incorporating assessment, education, and support and provides patients with at least 10 hours face time with their provider.
- Postnatal education- Educational program parents on how to care at home for their newborn, including infant’s developmental stages, how to childproof your home, importance of infant well care, and more.
- Safe Rider Program- Provides safety car instruction for your child and free car seat upon completion of orientation (while supply last).
- Parenting Classes- Educational program for parents that need or want to improve their parental skills; includes anger management, prevention of child abuse and neglect.
- Women Cervical cancer prevention- educational program for women to teach them the importance of caring for and protecting themselves through annual examinations.
- Project Focus - Case management program for the 65 y/o and up population, including mental health assessment, referral for psychological services as needed, and/or referrals to mainstream community resources.
- Referrals to mainstream community resources.
- Individual brief counseling for patients presenting mental health issues, domestic violence, substance abuse, bereavement, child behavioral problems.
The Social Services department is partially funded through a grant from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and through a grant from the March of Dimes for prenatal education.
